Start Saying to SORRY !!!

Why is it so hard to say the words we so desperately want to hear ?
Many times we turn the simple task of saying, “I’m sorry” into a chicken and egg game. Or worse, we use it to guilt others, or withhold it to hurt.
Do you find yourself actually taking the gift of an apology, whether given or received, as your opportunity to “win”? (If the word “but” is anywhere near the words “I’m sorry”, you aren’t apologizing, you’re trying to be right.)
Why?  Because you are missing two fundamental components of the foundation you need to build for a heartfelt apology that can be felt by the other person and by you!

 Accepting Responsibility
If you’re like most people, your perception of the situation is clouded by the hurt you’re feeling when someone you love is upset with you.  It also might be difficult for you to acknowledge and accept your reaction to any situation as being in your control.
Unfortunately, we live in a left-brain-logic controlled world, where the right side of the brain (passion, creativity, love) is locked up in a prison camp of right and wrong, only engaged when the left brain says, “hey we need to be upset here!”

#2 The Art Of Letting Go
This does NOT just mean you have to forgive and forget. You must heal your hurt too. However, if you can accept and acknowledge your contribution to the situation, this will free you from residue from the conflict.
The easiest way to let go is to ask YOURSELF one question, “Which is more valuable? The idea of being right, or the relationship?”

5 Ways To Say I’m Sorry And Show Them That You Mean It

Hug. It’s hard to stay mad when you hug someone. Physical touch can bridge the widest of emotional distances.

Write or find a poem showing how you feel about the other person outside of this situation. Keep it simple, give the poem to the person you wronged, and say, “I’m sorry. I know that might not be good enough right now and I’ve struggled to find the right words beyond I’m sorry.

Create an online collage of 10 photos of amazing places you’ve been together or fun experiences you’ve shared.

Give the person a list of the top 5 reasons they are important to you.

Make a donation to the other person’s favorite charity. Get a receipt of the donation, hand it to the other person and apologize by saying, “I’m sorry.

Why do people obsess over things ?

‘Why did she say this to me, how dare she insult me like this?’ My younger sister who is visiting from the US was busy complaining about a cousin who came to visit her. She was replaying a stressful conversation she had hours ago. Even the next day over dinner this conversation seemed to be the only topic of discussion.

Why do people obsess over things?

Different people obsess over things in different ways and for different reasons. Some people are more prone to stress than others and it shows in different ways in their behaviour.
Many times people want to get rid of a situation but due to a habitual thought pattern they are unable to do so and keep on replaying it.

Keep a time limit

If you are seeking support from friends in getting rid of your obsessive habit then set yourself a time limit. Decide on how much time you are willing to give this problem, on talking about it. Keep your focus on a solution.

Expressive writing

This helps in breaking the habit pf stressing. Research has also shown that expressive writing was effective in reducing the symptoms of depression amongst those with a tendency towards
brooding.

Change your behaviour

You can also change your feelings by changing your behaviour.

Take the ‘Fake it till you make it’ approach. Do this by making a few conscious choices to add some new stress management activities to your lives.

Getting regular exercise, practicing meditation and a few days in the week and indulging yourself in your favourite hobby, these are some of the techniques you can use to relieve stress.

Urban Indian women choose career over motherhood: Survey

A majority of young married working women in Indian metropolices are choosing career over family as they are in no mood to raise kids, a survey released here Thursday said.
About 1,200 married, working women without children in the age group of 24-30 in Delhi, Mumbai,Bangalore and other major cities were interviewed by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) during March and April.
While Mumbai topped the survey, Bangalore came in second followed by Delhi.
"Over 650 of the working women said that they won't be starting a family anytime soon as career advancement and higher education was their priority, which they couldn't sacrifice to raise kids," said the survey.
Another 200 respondents were of the view that pregnancy would spoil their physical appearance while around 70 considered themselves too young to be a mother.

Our First & Last Love is SELF LOVE !!!

What is self love?

Self love is the process of acknowledging, validating, honouring, and respecting yourself!

So, why is self love important? The importance of self love can be traced back to the effects of nurturing yourself. When you nurture and support yourself, you are in a far better position to do the same thing for others in your life. It is basic human nature to support others. The early man lived in tribes where most things were done due to a collective effort! If you support yourself, you will get better at supporting others.

Self love should be separated from narcissistic love. Narcissistic love is self centred and seeks the benefit of oneself only. Self love on the other hand, lays the ground work of loving others.

One of the easiest ways to experience more self love is to start of by increasing your self awareness. Ask yourself questions such as “What would I do or say that will make me honour, respect, validate, and acknowledge myself more?” Please take your time with this question, and allow the answers to organically flow to you, instead of wanting to force them out! Just remember, there is no right or wrong in this.

Simply allow your awareness to express to you, the benefits of giving more self love to yourself! Would I be correct in saying that you do love certain people in your life right now? What would the outcome be if you gave the same love back to yourself

The second step to expressing and experiencing more self love is to allow more self acceptance in your life. Put simply, fully accept the way that you are right now! Sure, there are and always may be certain things about you that you would like to change.

Top foods that keep you young

Green tea:

There is no end to the benefits of this super drink; green tea boasts a wealth of benefits that earns it the top spot in our anti-aging food list. Green tea is believed to help regulate blood pressure, lower blood sugar, boost the immune system, lower cholesterol and studies have even shown that green tea can be effective at preventing cancer. That's as close to the elixir of life as you can get

Leafy greens:

Whilst eating spinach won't be enough to turn you into Popeye, it's certainly excellent for boosting the body's immunity from illness. Spinach and other leafy foods like kale and collard are high in folate which is vital in preventing DNA and blood vessel damage.

Dark chocolate:

Who would have thought this sweet treat would feature in an anti-aging list, but the good news is chocolate can help fight against some signs of aging due to its cocoa content.

Soy products:

Like fish, soy products such as tofu are also a great alternative source of protein than red meat or even dairy, since they have little or no saturated fat. A diet that's low in saturated fat will reduce your risk of developing heart disease and lower blood pressure.

Yogurt:

Judging from their frequently bad press, you might assume that all forms of bacteria are out to get you. Thankfully, this couldn't be further from the truth.

Dark chocolate:

Who would have thought this sweet treat would feature in an anti-aging list, but the good news is chocolate can help fight against some signs of aging due to its cocoa content. Cocoa is rich in a group of antioxidants called Flavinoids which help preserve healthy function of the blood vessels. And healthy youthful circulatory system lowers risk of high blood pressure, type II diabetes, kidney disease and dementia. Don't go ...more

Red wine

Water:

AN EGG A DAY KEEPS OUR HEART FIT

While eggs are well known to be an excellent source of proteins, lipids, vitamins and minerals, researchers at the University of Alberta recently discovered they also contain antioxidant properties, which helps in the prevention of cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Jianping Wu, Andreas Schieber and graduate students Chamila Nimalaratne and Daise Lopes-Lutz of the U of A Department of Agricultural Food and Nutritional Science examined egg yolks produced by hens fed typical diets of either primarily wheat or corn. They found the yolks contained two amino acids, tryptophan and tyrosine, which have high antioxidant properties.

How to Deal with rude people at work

We encounter rude people everywhere, especially at our work places.
They are simply…rude. There’s possibly no reason for them to be like that towards you, but they just are. It’s appalling at times: cutting you in the coffee line, or getting aggressive for no reason, or not responding when you greet them in the morning.
1.Turn around and face the perpetrator
Rude people are as worse as the bullies you faced in high school. You thought you’d never have to face them again in your adult life. But here they are again. Rude people think that they can get away with murder, a cocky confidence of being the alpha male or female of the pack. It could be a case ofmood swings, but there’s only so much you can take. Turn around and look them in the eye.
2 Gandhigiri
Remember Munnabhai and his wise words? This approach works sometimes. Say someone is knowingly or unknowingly being rude and arrogant towards you. For example, your office peon tells you in an acerbic tone to come and get your tea from the pantry, you don’t need to stoop to his level and raise your voice.
3 Don’t pay them much attention
Unfortunately, some people have never had the social training on how to be polite and well behaved in a civil society. There is no point in trying to change them. Avoiding them is the best option here. If you have to interact with them, keep your interaction to a minimum. Be the “hi, hello” kinds, as they say. Talk business and nothing else: “Please courier this packet to the mentioned address. Thanks.” The important thing to remember is to not lose your own temper, or else what’s the difference between that person and yourself?

Daily aspirin 'cuts cancer death risk'

Oxford scientists have revealed that taking a daily dose of aspirin lowers the chance of dying from cancer by more than a third.

Their research also found that the pills not only reduce the likelihood of contracting the illness, they also protect against it spreading.

They claimed that the evidence is so strong that in future the NHS watchdog NICE may issue guidelines telling doctors to prescribe aspirin to cancer sufferers, the Daily Mail reported.

5 ways to find the perfect woman

If you hate having clammy hands, nervous chatter and going home to an empty bed, listen up: this is your guide to finding the perfect woman. We all know that finding love is a tricky business, but remember it is like a game, and there are many tactics you can use that will help you score. So, let’s begin:

Scare her

Scaring your girl is not on the usual dating to-do list, but if you’ve still not found the one yet then maybe it’s time you used some alternative methods. Now, we’re not suggesting you do anything sinister, but research has shown that when people experience fear on a date they often misinterpret that feeling as love.
Out of your league?
At some point, we’ve either been there or seen it – a beautifully stunning girl is after a guy, and you know they are out of their league. Although it’s tempting to pucker up and go for it, research suggests that reaching for the higher-end beauty queen will only lead to unrequited love. Researchers found that we are attracted to people who share a similar level of beauty to ourselves.
Smell her dad
As disgusting as this sounds, be brave and get sniffing guys. At the University of Chicago, Dr Martha McClintock found some very interesting, if somewhat smelly, findings. After asking women to take a whiff of some sweaty t-shirts she discovered that women ranked those men that smelt similar to her dad as being more attractive than the fellers who did not, or those who smelt too similar.
Stare at her
The eyes are very powerful tools when it comes to dating. We’ve all seen it in the films, that Lady and the Tramp moment when two eyes lock and love is bound to ensue. However, it would seem that for once the films aren’t too far removed from reality.  A psychologist from New York, Professor Arthur Arun, studied the dynamics of love. He found that staring into one another’s eyes has an incredibly powerful effect on people’s romantic relationships.

What women want

It’s the age-old question; what do women want? Admittedly, we don’t have the answer, but we do know that your witty chat-up lines aren’t on their list. According to recent studies we decide if we fancy someone within 90 seconds and 4 minutes after we meet them. How we decide whether we fancy each other is based on simple criteria: 55% is through body language, 38% is based on the tone and speed of our voice and only 7% is taken from what we talk about.

10 golden rules to keep romance alive

Getting into a relationship is easy, but keeping it alive is the difficult part. There are plenty of things, big or small, that an wreck an otherwise great relationship.
Now, Dr Barton Goldsmith, a California-based psychotherapist and the author of '100 Ways to Boost Your Self-Confidence - Believe in Yourself and Others Will Too' reveals what all can kill romantic relationships and how to save it from falling apart.

1. Money:
It's the root of all evils, as they say. If a partner has been unscrupulous, getting the trust back can be a challenge, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

2. Sex/infidelity:
A sexless marriage or unfaithfulness can extinguish love quicker than blowing out a candle. Don't let the flame burn out and try to renew your sex life.

3. Disrespect:

Research shows that belittling, insulting or yelling at your partner can cut the chances of your relationship's survival.

4. Children:
Some live for them, others would rather kill themselves. Make sure to keep things in balance with your partner, so you have the energy to deal with any child issues.

5. Opposite-sex friends:
If you don't want your spouse/partner to dine out and have drinks with a member of the opposite sex, then you need to follow the same guidelines.

How waiters judge you (and how to use it to your advantage)

Every time you sit down at a restaurant you’re being sized up. It’s called “reading a table” and wait staff at fine dining and chain restaurants alike are trained in the technique, according to the The Wall Street Journal.
Beyond flair, and memorizing specials, a good waiter can anticipate the needs of a customer at a glance. At chain restaurants around the country that's what they're being trained to do. Servers at Denny's, T.G.I Fridays, and Romano's Macaroni Grill are now taught to pay closer attention to the subtle  gestures and understated remarks of their customers. The goal for servers is twofold: give the customer a better dining experience by predicting their needs, and ultimately get a bigger tip.
More: 15 secrets your waiter won't tell you

Some obvious signals servers are trained to look out for: Chatty, friendly parties who make eye contact with each other and their server. They’re more likely to be receptive to cocktail and dessert menus. They also might want a little personality and conversation from their waitstaff.  A table of suits on the other hand, may get an all-business order-taker with an attention to getting food to the table on time.

Man can’t force wife to conceive, rules high court

In a first, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has ruled that a husband cannot compel his wife to conceive and give birth to his child. Making it clear that relationships that know no limits too have boundaries, the high court has asserted intimacy is one thing, giving birth to a child another.

“Mere consent to conjugal rights does not mean consent to give birth to a child for her husband,” Justice Jitendra Chauhan of the High Court has asserted.

The judgment, pregnant with significance, also makes it amply clear that “to have and to hold, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness or in health” does not give a man the right to prevent his wife from going in for an abortion.

The ruling came on revision petitions filed by Chandigarh-based gynaecologist Dr Mangla Dogra and others petitioners. The controversy in the case hovered around the decision of a wife to go in for medical termination of pregnancy without her husband’s consent.

Married in April 1994, the couple and their son were initially staying in Panipat. Due to "hostilities and strained relations”, the wife started staying with her parents, along with her son, at Chandigarh.

Little things that count in a relationship

Ask any man who has been in a relationship and he is sure to tell you that more than the expensive dates and costly gifts, the small gestures and little things made all the difference. To sustain anyrelationship you don’t need a pocket full of money.
1. 1. A good-morning / good-night text
You can make your girl’s day by sending her a lovie-dovie ‘good morning’ text. Nothing makes a girl happier than waking up to a lovely message that wishes her a great day ahead. In case you missed the opportunity to text her in the morning, don’t worry.

2. Drop her home safely

When I make the above point I don't expect you to become her personal chauffeur. What you are expected to be is gentleman who drops his girl home after a date or at least offers to do so.

3. Be her confidante

One of the most precious facets of a relationship is the ability to share and talk random stuff. Listen and accept your partner’s secrets (be it the heavy and serious ones or the outright dumb and funny ones) and become her confidante.

4. Remember dates

Women have a huge problem with a man’s inability to remember dates. You must avoid pissing her off by making an attempt to remember the dates that matter.

As Goa turns 50, a Goan looks back

On the 50th anniversary of Goa's liberation from Portuguese rule, a Goan looks back at the relics of its colorful and troubled history. Photographer Frederick Noronha is into journalism, book publishing, photography, and cyberspace. He has a collection of 40,000 copylefted and sharable photos online at http://photosfromgoa.notlong.com and dreams of building an archive of old Goa photos.

Till date, a little of the old impress remains in places like the colonial capital of Old Goa.

Azuleijos, the blue tiles influenced by Portuguese tiles, are still visible, though in only a few parts of Goa. Recent years have seen a revival of interest in things Portuguese, now with less of the colonial smear of the past and what some describe as "Lusostalgia".

Adults ‘not losing any sleep’ over computers

University of Sydney researchers have debunked the widespread belief that technological devices such as computers and mobile phones are increasingly eating into our sleep.

In a paper just published in the December issue of the Medical Journal of Australia, Nicholas Glozier, Associate Professor of Psychological Medicine, and co-authors apply some scientific rigour to the common perception that Australians were sleeping an hour less than they did a decade ago.

The study, conducted by University of New South Wales (UNSW), showed that such violence affects the victim's performance, productivity and safety. They feel distracted, tired or unwell, needing to take time off, or being late for work.

Reasons given include being physically injured or restrained, keys being hidden and partners failing to care for children.
