SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar and another candidate Rajinder Kaur are openly violating the model code of conduct by pasting their hoardings regarding the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) election on the boundary wall of SCD Government College here.
Makkar, however, said he was unaware about it and termed it as “enthusiasm” of his supporters who, he claimed, were all geared up for his victory in the SGPC election.
A city resident, Ishwarjot Singh Cheema, rued that it was sad that the SGPC president was using government property to propagate his agenda. “Its clearly a violation of the model code of conduct and the district administration should take strict action against him and get this hoarding removed at the earliest,” said Cheema.
