When girls wanna have fun

Move over boys, girls are having fun. And they want to have it on their own minus the company of men.

“Having a party in front of Eiffel Tower in Pune! A great fun time.”

“A complete paisa vasool time”,
“ Who says girls can’t have fun?’’
These are very few animated reactions from girls who had recently enjoyed all-girls’ parties at different places. At these parties they dance, sing, mimic, act naughty, in short they have a ball.

These all-girl parties are usually “bachelorette parties,” held as a celebration for a bride-to-be or a prenuptial party. Termed as “a last chance” of pure, unadulterated, independent fun — this is day you say goodbye to your singlehood. Obviously, you want to spend it with your friends having no-holds barred fun. What till now was the domain of boys — a bachelor or stag party thrown by the would-be groom’s friends to enjoy what was termed as life’s last free days — now has women joining the trend with gusto and having separate pre-marital parties!

History Of Surajkund Mela Faridabad (Haryana)

                                History

Surajkund is an ancient reservoir of the 10th century, 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) away to the south west from a more ancient dam of the 8th century called the Anagpur Dam; both are located in Haryana, India.Surajkund (literal meaning is 'Lake of the Sun') is an artificial Kund (‘Kund’ means “lake” or reservoir) built in the backdrop of the Aravalli hills with anamphitheatre shaped embankment constructed in semicircular form.

Another 'kund' by the same name as ‘Suraj Kund’ existed in Sunam city, a tahsil and sub division of the Sangrur District in Punjab.

Surajkund is located near the Surajkund village between the villages of Baharpur and Lakkarpur in Faridabad district of Haryana. The lake's drainage basin is part of the Aravalli hill ranges. It is fed from the north western side by a local nallah (stream) that initially feeds the Anagpur dam on the upstream.

According to bardic tradition (a tradition steeped in the history and traditions of clan and country) the Tomar kings who initially lived near the Aravalli hills shifted to the Surajkund area near Lal Kot, which was built by the Tomars. Lal Kot was renamed as Qila Rai Pithora, after Prithvi Raj Chauhan (the second last Hindu king of Delhi). Archeological excavations have revealed existence of a Sun temple here based on ruins that can be seen even now. Certain carved stones were recently recovered from the reservoir. Some stones have also been re–used in subsequent restoration works. Some historians also claim that it was named after King Surajpal himself who built it. It is also said that Suraj Pla built this lake for his daughter.

In the backdrop of the lake, during the spring season, every year from February 1–15, a colorful traditional craft festival of India is held in the precincts of Surajkund. This fair was first started in 1987. Traditional craftsman (artists, painters, weavers and sculptors) from all parts of the country participate in this annual celebration named as the “Surajkund Crafts Mela” or "Surajkund designer’s Village”.

Suraj Kund Craft Fair Starts From 1 Feb to 15-Feb 2013

Just a meagre 8kms away from south Delhi, you can relax and unwind in the most comfortable and classic confines of Claridges. The hotel is pretty near to the festival’s venue. After a sumptuous breakfast you can hit the venue on a wonderfully sunny morning. It is an annual festival held in the month of February, when the winters just about to exit and welcome the spring.
It is a beautiful time to visit this historic place surrounded by the silent Aravalis. It is known to be once a lake dedicated to the Sun God. It is a vast, circular and a grey stone structure which drapes itself with brightly coloured thatched houses, tree swings, brightly painted mud walls and creatively decorated stalls and shops.
