17-year old smashes highest individual score of 451 in inter-state game

Close on the heels of Virender Sehwag's world-record innings of 219 against the West Indies in the fourth one-day international match against West Indies, another youth 17-year old batting sensation Vijay Zol scripted history at the Anant Kanhere Maidan in Nashik (Maharashtra) as he smashed record-breaking knock of unbeaten 451 in the inter-state game.

This unbeaten record-breaking score by 17-year old came during the under-19 Cooch Behar trophy match between Maharashtra and Assam. He also broke the 11-year old record of Yuvraj Singh's innings of 358 runs in the same category.

Speaking about his innings, he said that when I went out to bat I had nothing in mind and just wanted to concentrate on every ball and play on its merit. He said that approaching the innings in this manner helped him to concentrate hard and play long innings. As the match got underway on Thursday morning with Assam winning the toss surprisingly asked Maharashtra to take first use of the wicket. The wicket was a batting paradise and made it very easy for batsmen to score runs.
