WORLD AIDS DAY TODAY Red Ribbon Clubs to be set up in colleges


Under the banner of the Punjab State AIDS Control Society (PSACS), Red Ribbon Clubs will be set up at 300 colleges in 10 districts of the Malwa region. The Red Ribbon Club is an on-campus programme for students. Red is a sign of warning against taking HIV/AIDS non-seriously as it has become one of the biggest problems of this era.

The clubs would come up in 34 colleges of Bathinda district. Besides, such clubs will be set up in colleges of Patiala, Sangrur, Barnala, Mansa, Faridkot, Moga, Ferozepur, Fazilka and Muktsar districts of the Malwa region.

The Department of Youth Services, Punjab, would initiate proceedings in setting up of these clubs in the Malwa region while the Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala, would do it in the remaining districts.
Talking to TNS here, Assistant Director, Youth Services, Bathinda, Dr Kamaljit Singh Sidhu said the PSACS would give a financial assistance of Rs 2,500 to each club for holding activities to create awareness about AIDS.
