To make the education system in the state more efficient, the Punjab Government will within two months recruit over 5,000 teachers in different categories.
A decision to this effect was taken by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today during a series of meetings with the deputations of different Unemployed Teacher Unions of Punjab, an official release said here.
Expressing concern over the large number of posts lying vacant in various schools, Badal directed the education department to expedite the process of promotions and fresh recruitments to fill 4,155 vacant posts of BEd, 646 of Physical Training Instructors and 541 teachers of other categories within two months. He further asked the department to depute science teachers in the schools where the state government had recently upgraded the infrastructure to impart quality science education.
