Azhar son critical after bike accident

Former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin’s son Mohammad Aiyazuddin was critically injured here on Sunday when the sports bike he was riding at a high speed skidded off the road.


Ajmal, his relative who was riding pillion, was killed on the spot while Aiyazuddin is battling for life at  Apollo Hospital here. Aiyazuddin (19), a budding cricketer, was severely injured while riding a 1,000 CC Suzuki motorcycle on the city outskirts. The accident occurred around 9 am near the Puppalguda toll gate on the eight-lane Outer Ring Road where two-wheelers and autos are prohibited.

According to police, Aiyazuddin was riding the bike at a very high speed and could not control the vehicle which crashed into the median leading to severe head injuries.Both were admitted to Apollo Hospital where Ajmal, the grandson of former Congress MP Khaleelur Rehman was declared dead on arrival.Aiyazuddin, the younger son of Azhar (from his first wife Naureen), played for Hyderabad-19 cricket team and also attended the camp held in Kolkata last year. Dr Mahesh Joshi, Chief Surgeon at Apollo Hospital, said the injured were brought to hospital after 9 am.
