Punjab Approves Recuitment And Regularization Policy of PRTC-Sukhbir
Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Punjab said that Punjab has approved a new Recruitment and Regularization Policy, prepared by the management of PRTC, through which the drivers and conductors will be engaged by PRTC on direct contract and these workers will be considered for regularization after 5 years of their satisfactory service.
He said that PRTC has also initiated the process for recruitment of 400 drivers on direct contract basis under the new recruitment policy. Talking to media persons after laying the foundation stone of an Ultra Modern Bus Stand to be constructed in an area of 43 Kanal (6.05 Acre) with a total cost of Rs.3.5 crores, Badal accompanied by Master Mohan Lal, Transport Minister, said that with a view to create more employment opportunity and to create a better and more committed work force for the Corporation, Government of Punjab had cleared this policy. He said that government felt that there was lack of commitment in the workers engaged through outsourcing and also they did not have any chance of getting any regular employment.
He said that under this Recruitment and Regularization policy the services of 77 drivers have been regularized. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister in the presence of Transport Minister gave away appointment letters to 6 drivers of Budhlada depot. He said that PRTC was also in the process of getting Bus Stands constructed with modern facilities at Bathinda, Sangrur, Kapurthala & Faridkot on BOT basis.
Replying to Media queries, Transport Minister informed that the Government of Punjab has helped PRTC in a big way by converting 200 crores of loan and financial assistance extended to PRTC during the militancy period into equity and PRTC has for the first time since 1994 received an amount of Rs. 20 Crores in cash from Govt. of Punjab against the reimbursement of concessional travel facility to various categories.
