Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today in principle approved to fill vacant posts of schoolteachers and college lecturers on a regular basis. Presiding over a review meeting this morning, Badal directed the Principal Secretary, Higher Education, and Secretary, School Education, to initiate the process of recruiting teachers.
He also asked the Secretary, School Education, to look into the viability of establishing a state-level teachers’ recruitment board for the selection of almost 10,000 to 12,000 teachers every year.
The CM directed that the practice of deputing teachers from one school to another be stopped. He gave the nod to panchayats to spend money on the repair and upkeep of schools.
