The Election Commission has suspended the atta-dal scheme till the day of elections in the state. The decision has been taken following complaints that the scheme is being misused to take political mileage by the ruling party.
Under the scheme, wheat flour and lentils are given to poor families at subsidised rates every month. Now, the benefit will not be extended for five days.
Ban on exit polls
The ban on telecast of opinion/exit polls in Punjab will commence 48 hours before the first phase of polling i.e. 48 hours before Manipur goes to the polls on January 28.
