SOPU-SOI SWEEPS PUNJAB UNIVERSITY POLLS


Alliance of Students Organisation of Punjab University (SOPU) and Student Organisation of India (SOI) swept the Punjab University Campus Students' Council (PUCSC) elections.

The post of the President went to Pushpinder Sharma (24) of Law department who secured 3,730 votes and won by a margin of over 1,001 votes. His nearest rival was Sumit Goklaney, who contested for Punjab University Students Union (PUSU), Indian National Student Organisation (INSO) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) alliance.


The Vice-President's post went to Simarpal Kaur Johal, a student of English department. She got 3,488 votes and was followed by PUSU-ABVP-INSO candidate Anandita Sharma who secured 2,725 votes. According to PU officials there was around 53 per cent voting.
