PPP, Left make a move for third front


A function to mark the death anniversary of CPM general secretary late Harkishan Singh Surjeet, who played well the role of an alliance maker in his life in Delhi, provided a common platform to Left parties and People's Party of Punjab (PPP) chief Manpreet Badal to announce formation of an alliance in the next assembly elections and assure people to formalize it soon.

Addressing a gathering, of mainly Left workers and PPP activists, CPM state secretary Charan Singh Virdee, CPI central committee member Joginder Dyal and Manpreet in their respective speeches expressed their resolve to raise a third front in Punjab to give an effective opposition to SAD-BJP alliance and Congress.


Truck with Left parties will be fruitful: Manpreet

PPP chief Manpreet Badal said on Sunday that an alliance with Left parties would be fruitful, as PPP was a secular party.

"Details of alliance with Left parties are being formalized. We are open to alliance with any party or independent candidate who forms resonance with our ideology," said Manpreet, who also visited the home of Harkishan Singh Surjeet, the Marxist pioneer and former general secretary of CPI (Marxist).
