The doodle drawn in classic Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle style shows Uncle Pai, as Anant Pai was known to millions of young readers, surrounded by Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle comic books.
Anant Pai was born on September 17, 1929 at Karkala, Karnataka. A scientist by education, but an entertainer by vocation Uncle Pai initiated a comic revolution in India.
Amar Chitra Katha has shown millions of Indians the route to their roots. Tinkle has been the childhood companion of many for over two and half decades. In 1967, the educational comics series Amar Chitra Katha was launched. Each of the comics in this series was devoted to a person or event in Indian history, religion and mythology. Anant Pai conceptualised of all of these, and wrote the scenarios for most of them.
