The 47-year-old Sangrur resident arrested for the murderous attack on the Vice-Chancellor of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia, today confessed to the media that he had shot at the VC following an altercation.
He said his relative was denied admission despite a recommendation from a SAD leader.
The DIG, Ludhiana Range, MF Farooqui, said last evening a team headed by Gobindgarh SHO Bikramjit Singh Brar went to Khanauri following specific leads and arrested Jora Singh, who later confessed to the crime. The police had released the assailant’s sketch on Tuesday.
Jora Singh told mediapersons that despite a recommendation letter from former Member of Parliament and Akali leader Prem Singh Chandumajra, the VC had rejected the admission application of his relative.
