The number of polling stations in Punjab for the forthcoming Assembly elections has been increased to 19,724, from the earlier 18,817.
The Election Commission of India has accepted the recommendations of Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab for rationalisation of polling stations in the state ahead of Vidhan Sabha polls, CEO Kusumjit Sidhu said here today.
The increase in the number of polling stations has come due to rationalisation of the polling stations in the state for the forthcoming Assembly elections, CEO said. She said that all political parties are advised to contact concerned district electoral officers for details of polling stations in each district.
