MINISTER ASKS MEDICAL COLLEGES TO CHECK RAGGING


Punjab Medical Education and Research Minister Arunesh Shakir today issued directions to Principals and staff of all government and private medical and nursing colleges to immediately suspend the students found indulging in the practice of ragging.

In a communiqué addressed to Vice Chancellor Baba Farid University of Medical Sciences, Director Medical Education and Research, Director Ayush and Principals of Medical Colleges, he said that it was imperative for all educational institutions to implement the latest guidelines issued by Apex Court to check the menace of ragging.

Mr Shakir said ''since the new session in all the Medical Institutions is about to commence, there is greater need for the authorities of the institutions to keep a strict vigil on the activities of students to check the practice of ragging of newcomers''. He said that all institutions must deal with the students indulging in ragging in strictest possible manner including immediate suspension from the institution. All institutions must implement Raghvan Committee recommendations to check the ragging menace,he added.
